I received quite the surprising email this afternoon to my trusty Gmail account, and lest Gucci be left out in the cold, was intrigued to discover they had taken the time to build an iPhone app. 

The interesting angle in this app is that it's not just for showing the latest runway pics/vids or even in-app shopping, but it's focus on music.  I supose it makes sense when you consider the iPhone started as an iPod, and clearly music is the priority for the medium. 

The app features working turntable functionality for mixing tracks produced by Mark Ronson along with a handy hotel and restaurant tip guide. The app also gives users information on Mark Ronson’s limited edition Gucci sneakers as they pop up at Gucci retailers in real time. How much more exclusivity do you want!?! Well, in addition to all that, included are all Gucci store locations along with Gianni’s favorite clubs, hotels, restaurants and hotspots in 20 major cities around the globe and they are marked using your phone’s GPS locator in Google Maps! All this for FREE 99 (that’s free, zip, nada, nunca!)

If you like Garage Band for your Mac and are frustrated by the lack of features or power, then you're probably going to need to upgrade to Apple's professional music editing software -- Logic Studio.  I've used this for about a year and the basics are exactly the same as Garage Band, only with more functionality.  The price is still $499 for this brand new version, which includes a host of new features (it used to be a cool $1,000 a few years ago).  And besides, if it's good enough for T-Pain, it's good enough for me.  Here's a link to Apple's website. Flo Rida's new album dropped yesterday.  You've probably heard his "Right Round" remake and "Shone", the second single off the album (you can also watch the music video on Carbon Rabbit here).  If not, it's your classic hip-hop video:  women in bikinis, boats, gold chains, and bottles.  Aside from the pants-fitting issue, I'm giving the album 3 out of 5 Carbon Carrots.  $11.49 via iTunes and also comes with both music videos.
